
While the average music fan has heard of Peter Frampton, there are many who have not heard of Humble Pie. Peter Frampton has enjoyed a solo career that has seen its ups and downs from a commercial standpoint but as an artist, he has delivered great music on a consistent basis for over 40 years. There have been close to a dozen live albums and many compilations released. Humble Pie has released eleven studio albums with the majority of them being released in the 1970s. The band Humble Pie was clearly fueled by the immense talents of Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton. Their style fell somewhere in between bands like Mott The Hoople, Savoy Brown, Foghat, and the Rolling Stones. Their music utilized the blues but was focused more in a driving rock direction. Humble Pie songs defined the spirit of early 1970’s rock. Rounding out the original band members of Humble Pie were Greg Ridley on bass and Jerry Shirley on drums. Frampton left the band in 1971 and was replaced by Clem Clempson. Legendary songwriter, singer, and guitarist Peter Frampton played a major role in Humble Pie from 1969 to 1971 as frontman while contributing to the band’s first four albums.
